Tedeschi Trucks Band Welcomes Jimmie Vaughan, Billy Gibbons At Jazz Fest [Watch]

first_imgBeloved soul rockers Tedeschi Trucks Band made their triumphant return to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival yesterday, hitting the storied event for the second year running. This year’s set was billed as a “Tedeschi Trucks Band & Friends” performances, and only recently did we find out who those friends would be; stellar blues rock guitarists Jimmie Vaughan (brother of Stevie Ray Vaughan) and Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top).The set opened with a slew of songs from the band’s catalog, starting with the title track of their 2016 release Made Up Mind. The opening portion of the set also featured covers of Derek and the Dominoes’ “Keep On Growing” and The Box Tops’ “The Letter,” gearing fans up for the excitement to come.The band then welcomed Jimmie Vaughan out for two songs, including takes on Louis Jordan’s “Let The Good Times Roll” and Allen Toussaint’s “I Like It Like That.” After a cover of Freddie King’s “Palace of the King,” the band then brought out Billy Gibbons for two more blues rock numbers. With Gibbons, they played Johnny Moore’s “How Blue Can You Get?” and ZZ Top’s “Going Down To Mexico.” The presence of lost legends was really felt during the set, with the Toussaint cover and a number of staples from B.B.
