first_imgCalvert Fitzgerald is aiming at winning the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) in his third stint as coach of Waterhouse Football Club.After guiding Rivoli United for several seasons in the nation’s top football league, Fitzgerald parted ways with the Spanish Town-based club, for another try at two-time champions, Waterhouse.”They (Waterhouse executive body) invited me to coach the team this season and I accepted,” Fitzgerald told The Gleaner yesterday.”We started training last Monday, which is a bit late. This week is about getting the programme going with physical training by Michael Brady,” he said.Although the club’s hierarchy is expecting Fitzgerald to bring them back to glory days, he is not putting too much pressure on himself to deliver.”The club’s expectation is to win. I want to win, but I don’t feel any extra pressure. We have some good players already at the club.”Most definitely, everybody has their own philosophy of coaching. I will look at any player who is interested in representing the club in order to lift trophies,” Fitzgerald noted.crucial rolesFitzgerald will have as his assistant coach, former Waterhouse and national player, Kevin Lamey. He (Lamey) is highly rated at the club and was a prolific scorer. He played crucial roles in the club winning the premier league twice, plus other trophies.”Kevin Lamey is my assistant and I think it will be a good combination. He understands the club and this is a good opportunity to start his coaching career,” he explained.last_img
